Perth Doo'cot Cricket Club - Women's and girls' cricket at PDCC

Women and girls’ cricket at PDCC

In March 2020, our newly formed women’s team played their first competitive matches in the Wee Bash indoor tournament in Perth, winning two of their three matches. Sadly, the Covid-19 pandemic prevented them from following up on that positive start.

Thankfully, there was more cricket for them to enjoy in 2021 and 2022, with several Wee Bash outdoor festivals, a number of softball matches, a debut appearance by a women's team at the club's annual Social 6s event, and regular training sessions taken by our Level 1-qualified coaches Grace and Katie.

The section has already made a positive start to 2023, winning a Wee Bash tournament on home soil without losing a game. It promises to be an exciting season ahead, with PDCC joining forces with Meigle to enter a joint hardball team in the Challenger League, fixtures for which will be announced shortly.

We warmly welcome new members, so whether you’re new to the game or you’ve played before and fancy getting back into the swing of things, please feel free to contact us by using the online form or writing to us at perthdoocot@gmail.comAlternatively, you can pop into see us on Monday evenings, as soon as training gets under way in mid/late April.

We are also determined to attract more girls at the club, with a view to eventually running our own girls' team and developing players good enough to play for Scotland one day. We can but dream. At the moment, girls joining the club have the option of training with the women's section or joining the relevant boys' age group.

Girls between the ages of 5 and 8 are also encouraged to sign up for the eight-week All Stars cricket programme, which we run on Monday evenings. You’ll find more information about All Stars here.

The annual subscription fee for our female players is £40 per head (£20 for students and the unemployed). If you are signing a child up for All Stars, you play a flat fee of £40 to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and nothing to the club). Full subscription payment details are available on the Subscriptions page.

You'll find more information on women and girls' cricket here, at the Cricket Scotland website.
